Love to Love: Part Four

Just a uniform

Welcome to Love to Love - a series of interviews with top women we love to love, about all the stuff they love to love.

Today we meet Siobhan Maroney aka Just a Uniform - the multi-coloured fashion blogger representing for Kent and leaving a trail of glitter wherever she goes.

You’ll have no doubt seen her honest blogs and daringly experimental fashion mash ups. But what you may not know, is that Siobhan used to be a teacher and counts her an envy-inducing ‘Bachelorette’ party in Las Vegas (gurl gang goals) as a true highlight of her past few years. Let’s find out more...

How would you describe your style?
More is more, less is bore - a phrase I live by! Clearly I’m a bit of a magpie, but I also love making fashion playful - breaking rules, mixing things up, experimenting basically. It has to be joyful!
.
What’s your dream dinner party line up if you only had three chairs to fill?
First off, Prince, definitely. Just because he’s an all-around genius of course - musically talented and also in the style stakes. I love how daring he always was. The second place would go to Iris Apfel. She’s the reason that I started my blog and I am absolutely inspired by her. For the final seat, I’m going to go with the blogging style queen Megan Ellaby. I think her style is everything - and she’s just the nicest human.
.
Where’s your favourite place to visit and why?
I’m going to be controversial and insist on saying two! My favourite city is Berlin. I go there every single year. I got engaged there and it holds so many great memories. It’s a really, really creative place, where you’re allowed to be who you are. And it feels really free because of that. One place I’d definitely recommend checking out if you go is Kreuzberg for it’s nightlife, vintage shops and amazing Turkish food. The other place is somewhere I haven’t even been yet, but I’ve been obsessed since I was in primary school! And that’s Japan - for all the crazy visual stimulation and a total change in surroundings - I love the fashion, the food, everything.
.
Where do you get your style inspo from?
The streets - just literally people-watching, I like my magazines, but I don’t really follow trends. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of trends in my wardrobe for sure, but they are there because I genuinely like them. Mainly I love observing and enjoy walking around shops and seeing what’s going on. I try to go to fashion weeks and like getting inspiration from there, but equally, I just think it’s great to just see what everyday people are doing. For me it’s mainly bloggers who are leading the way - and that’s where I see the most style. A couple of people I'd recommend to follow are @nicolekayclark and @tezzamb
.
What does jewellery mean to your style?
Last year I didn’t make a new year’s resolution, but my pledge to myself was to accessorize more! Basically because I always felt that my accessories game wasn’t quite up with my clothes game - so during 2017 I was really going for it - and now I get so many comments about my accessories and jewellery, especially my Milk Tooth London earrings! Loads of people stop me and ask me about them. Jewellery can complete a look, or make a look, so I love its flexibility.
.
Tell us about the earrings you’re wearing now?
For me I love The Cloud - how statement they are basically! They are a bit out there and really suit my style. But also gold, pink and red is the best colour combination!

Love to Love: Part Three

Natalie Campbell

Welcome to Love to Love - a series of interviews with top women we love to love, about all the stuff they love to love.

Today we meet Natalie Campbell - the sassy commentator, Founder of A Very Good Company, and one third of Talk Radio’s Badass Women’s Hour.

You’ll no doubt have marvelled at Natalie’s quick wit, strong hair game and variety of lip colours already, but what you may not know is that Natalie’s first business was a fashion store she launched aged 21, plus as a Civil Service Commissioner she plays a seriously important role helping to select the most senior Whitehall staff in the country. Impressive stuff. Let's find out more…

How would you describe your style?

I go for simple, but impactful. I’m not driven by trends and don’t buy lots of stuff anymore; it really has to be about sustainable purchases. I’m often in black but will accessorise - although with just one thing, I’m not someone who layers up. For me, jewellery is everything. You can update your whole outfit with the right earring, with the right necklace - or when on holiday, the right crown, whatever it is! It’s the thing that lifts an all-black outfit, or that makes you feel like you have a brand new look to rock in a dress you’ve had for 10 years.

If you were hosting a dinner party with only three seats, who'd you invite?

Everyone knows I’m a massive Rhianna fan, so she’d be there for sure. Also Michelle Obama - because she’s superwoman of course. And, sorry for such a cliché, but Anthony Joshua, for visual reasons! (*We also hear he’s very sweet, so sure that’s your main motivation, right Nat?!)

What’s the favourite place that you’ve ever travelled to?

New York holds a special place in my heart. I love the chilled, down-to-earth culture in Brooklyn, but also being in Manhattan with the glamour and scale of the buildings - and supersized food! The city reminds me how small we all are, but equally big you can be. I was inspired by a massive billboard I saw aged fifteen of Puff Daddy in Times Square - and I fell in love right then. It’s a place that always gives me fight. (*We are also big fans -  check out our guide to jewellery shopping in the Big Apple, right here)

Do you have any go-to places for fashion inspiration?

My friends. If you’re wearing a really cute outfit, I’m going to ask where it’s from - and may well copy! I’m not really someone that looks at things on social media and covets stuff, it’s more of an immediate, real-life feeling. I also have go-to brands like Joseph, Max Mara, Jigsaw. Places you can walk in and know you’ll get something so you don’t have to think too hard, I don’t like having to overthink!

Tell us about your fave Milk Tooth earrings...

At the moment it’s The Lovers - because that’s where I’m at right now, all about the love, trying to find a man - so hoping this is a subliminal thing too! But also I love the shape - womanly, but again it’s simple whilst statement, which is a really hard combination to get, but is what’s happening right here.

Embrace the love with your own pair, right here.

Love to Love: Part Two

Bethany Rutter

Welcome to Love to Love - a series of interviews with top women we love to love, about all the stuff they love to love.

Today we meet Bethany Rutter aka Arched Eyebrow - the opinionated fashionista with passions for literature and lipstick in equal measures, who is leading the charge for plus size confidence alongside entertaining the Twitterrati with side-splitting daily life bantz.

What you may not know, is that Bethany is a E17 residing bonafide fashion designer in the midst of planning a wedding she's excited about getting excited about, but scared about getting too crazy life-takeover excited about, if you know what we mean... Let's find out more.

How would you describe your style?

I try to keep it casual, but always with a statement piece so it feels special (*erm... a pretty glam interpretation of casual in our eyes Bethany!*)

What’s your dream dinner party line up if you only had three chairs to fill?

David Byrne of Talking Heads, Beth Ditto and Nigel Slater. Just think, music and food sorted. And the style stakes would be high too.

Where’s your favourite place to visit and why?

LA - because it’s all the fantasy glamour I wanted it to be! I always think people who live there must feel like they are on holiday the whole time.

Where do you get your style inspo from?

Instagram. I particularly love perusing the feeds of big women pioneering great style choices. Favorites include Nicolette Mason and Dani Vanier.

What’s your go-to item of clothing to make you feel totally awesome?

Not to be too self-promoty, but it really does have to be the Slim paperbag-waist trousers in bright green from my range with Navabi. I love the colour and they make me feel boss lady meets colour blocking fashionista. (*totally down for a bit of self-promo when the trews are JUST SO GOOD lady*)

And finally, tell us about the earrings you're wearing.

It had to be The Cloud because I love a big, bold earrings and they really stand out. Plus they are evoking some vagina vibes, which I am definitely pleased about. (*We had genuinely never thought of that, but now you say it, we agree - and it definitely adds to our love of these beauts too!*)

Now, get your own pair, right here x
